There seem to be some inconsistencies here.

The words: "May the Lord Almighty give us a quiet night and a peaceful end" are spoken by the priest at the very end of the service, and not at the beginning. These words are spoken after the congregation has processed to the Lady chapel to sing the Magnificat in Latin.

There are usually very few people at evening prayer as so many parishioners live on the outskirts of the city and, having come to mass on Saturday or Sunday, do not return in the evening.

There is never a collection at evening prayer.
