![]() A WEEKLY WORD FROM THE REV.Have you ever felt dissatisfied with your personal appearance? Maybe your nose is the shape of a cucumber or your eyes are the wrong way round. If you have, you should feel utterly ashamed of yourself. If that's how God wants you to look, it's none of your business. Reflect with me a moment on the story of Jacob and Esau. We are told in Genesis that their short-sighted father wanted to bless the hairy Esau, so smooth Jacob impersonated him with the old back-of-the-hands toupée trick. So Esau received the Father's love because he was hairy, and Jacob got the blessing because of his added hairiness ploy. Does this mean that God loves hairy people more than smoothies? Well, yes, I suppose it does. Given the choice of a hairy chested fellow or a shaved-head chap, I know which I'd go for. If I was a woman. Is God calling you to get hair implants in your neck? Or maybe to wear an Afro wig for his greater glory? But on second thoughts, maybe this story is just God's way of saying He loves us all however furry we may or may not be. Yes, that sounds more like it. After all, it's the inside, not the outside that He is concerned with. And if your insides are hairy, I'd be very surprised.
